About Me and the City of Seattle
Hi there. My name is Tom McDaniel and I own this fun and informative site about Seattle. 🙂
Let me tell you about myself and my wife, Mary. But just a note here, you will probably not see a picture of her online because she is just a bit shy about her pictures. 🙁 Well, that’s OK. I’ve lived in Seattle most of my life. Though I was not born here, I consider it my home because at about 2 years old, my parents moved here from Virginia where I was born.
Just a Bit of History
Now, on the other hand, my wife was born and raised in the Seattle area. She was born in what is now called “the old Renton hospital” that was built in a circular shape. Renton is a suburb of the greater Seattle area. The old hospital is now long gone, but not the memories. I’ve seen many changes come and go within the Greater Seattle Area.
Not that I am any sort of an expert, but I have been here long enough to be able to give you, the reader, much insight into why Seattle is such a fantastic place. We’ll be able to “tour” through the city together in our mind’s eye along with some pictures that will give you a real “bird’s eye view” of many events and places.
What Should You Expect From This Site?
Also, what I’am hoping to accomplish also, is to let you know where the average person can go and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Pacific Northwest and the Seattle area. Since I’ve been here for many years and pretty much know the entire state, I’ll give you the most enjoyable places to visit. How does that sound?
You’ll also get to know me a bit better as I share with you many of my own personal experiences that have happened to me in, and around the Seattle area. I know you’ll just love it too!
A Blue Collar Worker Does The City!
FYI… Since I am one of the cities “blue collar” working men, I can and will, give you insight into many places that most people can not get into or know about. It will be my “special treat” to you!
It was always my dream to be able to work with my hands in order to build many projects in and around the Seattle area. You’ll also find out that even though I am a “blue collar” worker, I’ve always prided myself with further education.
For instance, I’ve taken calculus math (had a great teacher that made learning it very simple), I have also done public speaking and continue to do so on a weekly basis.
As a crane operator, I needed to have a big-rig license to drive the tired cranes on the road. I studied the Combination Driver’s Manual book, took the written and driving test for tractor trailer rigs which earned a class A CDL (combination driver’s license). All of that was accomplished in about one month. That gave me access to many places to be able to enter into that most people would never see. Again, I will be giving you more than just a peek into those places within the city.
But enough of that, you’ll find out more as you read and I continue to up date this site. 🙂
Over many years, my skills have taken me into areas where I met and became friends with many very influential people and, once more, I will be sharing that with you, the reader.
Now I am venturing into another arena. The online community.
Since many want to come and visit Seattle or just learn about it, hopefully as you read my blogs, you’ll soon come to see why Seattle is such a great city. In fact, on a number of occasions, Seattle has been voted as one of the top 10 cities within the United States and as a 5 star city. 🙂
So, welcome to my blog and enjoy yourself and happy reading.
I’ll be posting new information often, so be sure and save this page into your Bookmarks or Favorites.
